Washington Academy Students Inspired by Channel 4 Careers Session

Washington Academy, part of Consilium Academies, was delighted to welcome Michael Longhi from Channel 4 today, who delivered an engaging and inspiring careers session to all Year 8 students.

The session highlighted the importance of broadening students’ understanding of the world beyond the classroom, helping them to explore future career pathways and the wide range of opportunities available to them. Learning about careers at an early stage plays a vital role in raising aspirations, developing ambition, and equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices about their futures.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to learn directly from an industry professional, gaining valuable insight into the diverse roles within the media sector. The session also focused on the key skills required to succeed in such a fast-paced and competitive industry, including creativity, communication, resilience, and teamwork.

Experiences like this form an important part of Washington Academy’s commitment to providing meaningful learning beyond the classroom, ensuring students are well-prepared for the world of work and inspired to pursue their ambitions.

A spokesperson from the academy said:
“We are committed to providing our students with opportunities that extend their learning beyond the classroom. Sessions like this are invaluable in helping students understand the wide range of careers available and the skills needed to succeed.”

Washington Academy would like to extend a sincere thank you to Michael Longhi for sharing his expertise and helping to inspire the next generation.
