Washington Academy students cast their spell as published authors

Seventy six of Washington Academy’s talented students have transformed their imagination into reality, becoming officially published in the Young Writers Grim Tales competition. Competing against students of all ages from across the country, they have showcased exceptional creativity and storytelling skill.

The national competition challenged young writers to reimagine classic fairytales with dark, twisted twists, celebrating creativity, originality, and daring storytelling. The winning stories capture the dark, thrilling, and magical essence of storytelling, turning our students into real-life authors.

Jodi Bunker, English teacher at Washington Academy, said:

Their twisted, imaginative fairytales have captured the dark, thrilling, and magical spirit of storytelling, showcasing creativity, originality, and a flair for the unexpected. This is an incredible achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder of every student who dared to dream, write, and let their imagination run wild."
