CPD takes many forms at Washington Academy, be it whole school training on Wednesdays after lessons or small groups of staff working together on a chosen area for classroom development in their own time. Continual scrutiny of and reflection on our practice lies at the heart of all we set out to achieve as we strive to become an outstanding academy in all aspects of teaching & learning.

Previous inspections often determine the foci around which the CPD is planned as we value the feedback from experts in our quest to become outstanding. As such we are currently working on:

• Effective Learner and Teacher Behaviours
• Dialogue & Questioning
• Evaluating the impact of teaching
• Literacy & mathematics

Staff share good practice and improved practice both within their own departments and at whole academy level. We have often celebrated initiatives in academy improvement through the use of digital technologies and open plan market stalls.
