What will I learn in Years 9, 10 and 11?
In this qualification, students will use hairdressing and beauty therapy and related industries (i.e. retail, leisure, fashion, marketing, media, business) to develop themselves and, in particular, the skills and attributes prized by employers, further education colleges and higher education institutions.
This qualification consists of 4 units
- Understanding the hair and beauty sector (mandatory)
- Hair and beauty research project (mandatory)
- Hair and beauty science
- Responding to a hair and beauty design brief
Students will have the opportunity to identify adverse skin and scalp condition, choose the correct products for a variety of hair types, shampoo and condition to a salon standard as well as blow-dry and apply a colour using the correct method.
How will I learn?
You will learn how to use and apply knowledge, skills and understanding in practical tasks and in real-life problems. You will learn through demonstration, practice, questioning and discussion.
What abilities, aptitudes, skills and interests will I need?
You should have a genuine interest in hairdressing and styling.
